Thermoplastic Locally Made - Our Thermoplastic plant is operating according to plan, and a number of our customers have benefitted from the speedy delivery and convenience of buying locally manufactured Thermoplastic.
Most of you will be aware NZTA will be re-evaluating road marking materials approvals under both M7 and M20.
We have recently applied some "Dot Matrix" Thermoplastic Lines to both the Asphaltic and Chip Seal Trial Site at Upper Hutt and Plimmerton, respectively. This pretial installation was done for Opus - Central Laboraties, on behalf of NZTA, as part of their evaluation of;
* Trial Site location, effectiveness in regard to exposure and application logistics.
* Suitable application method, for "structured" long life materials.
The defined drainage channels provide several advantages, in that water flows readily from the markings to enhance Retroreflectivity in "Condition of Wetness" (RW), as well as allowing traffic grime to wash free and ensure markings still retain their brightness for daytime contrast or luminance (Qd). The "Dot Matrix" pattern is easily generated by screeding the road marking material over a 3.5mm thick Silicone Rubber template which is removed following hardening of the product.
